After
many years of practical organic and wildlife gardening,
practical vermicomposting and teaching such topics,
George gave numerous talks and advice to many organisations
and societies. After completing a Certificate in Education,
and building upon the practical experiences he had
gained, he decided to undertake a Master of Science
Degree in Countryside Management, which he successfully
completed. After publication of his scientific work
on slugs and the effects of slug pellets upon predatory
beetles in the respectable journal Entomologia Experimentalis
et Applicata, (2001), Manchester Metropolitan University
invited George to become an Honorary Research Assistant.
He continues to act as a consultant to a research
team investigating a variety of fauna such as earthworms,
spiders, beetles and slugs.
The Company first introduced a
new concept of wormeries into the UK and went on to
develop and manufacture the Waste Buster Wormery,
along with a unique worm bedding material here in
the UK, for which the company was awarded the coveted
Green Apple "Gold" Award for Best Environmental
Practice in 2001.
He works with and teaches schoolchildren,
students with special needs, students with mental
health problems and able bodied students.
